Granular Volume ("the app") is a utility developed by an independent developer (Rotem Zussman, "the developer", "we") that adds fine-grained, software-level volume steps on top of your Android device's built-in volume controls. This policy explains, in plain language, what the app does and does not do with information, what rights you have, and the legal terms that apply to your use of the app.
Granular Volume does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data.
The app has no internet access — it does not request the
INTERNET permission, contains no analytics, no advertising, and no
third-party tracking SDKs of any kind. Nothing ever leaves your device.
None. We do not collect, and have no technical means of collecting, names, email addresses, location, contacts, device identifiers, usage statistics, crash logs, or any other personal or sensitive information. We do not use cookies, SDKs, or any other tracking technology. We do not sell, rent, or share information about you, because none is ever collected in the first place.
The app saves a small amount of local settings on your device only, so it can remember your preferences between sessions:
This data is stored privately in the app's own storage on your device, is never transmitted anywhere, is never accessible to the developer or any third party, and is permanently deleted when you uninstall the app.
SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW) — to show
the floating volume control on top of other apps.MODIFY_AUDIO_SETTINGS) — to apply
the additional volume attenuation to audio output.FOREGROUND_SERVICE,
FOREGROUND_SERVICE_MEDIA_PLAYBACK) — to keep the control running reliably
while you use other apps, with a persistent notification.RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED) — optional, to
restore the control after the device restarts.POST_NOTIFICATIONS) — to display the
ongoing service notification required by Android for foreground services.Every permission listed above is used exclusively for the on-device function described next to it. None of these permissions is used, or is technically capable of being used, to access, collect, or transmit personal information, since the app has no network access at all.
The app is distributed through Google Play and/or F-Droid. Distribution and installation are handled entirely by those platforms under their own respective privacy policies and terms, which apply to the download and update process itself, independently of anything described here. The app does not embed any other third-party service, library, or SDK that collects or transmits data of any kind.
Because the app collects no data and has no network access, there is no data-in-transit and no server-side storage to secure. The only information described above lives in your device's private, sandboxed app storage, protected by Android's own operating-system-level security model, and is never exposed to the developer.
If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, California, or any other jurisdiction with its own data protection law, you may have rights such as the right to access, correct, delete, or export personal data, and the right to object to its processing. Because Granular Volume does not collect, store, or process any personal data about you, there is no personal data held by the developer for any such request to act upon. If you believe this is inaccurate, or have any question about how these rights apply to your use of the app, contact the developer using the details below.
The app collects no data from anyone, including children, and contains no ads. The app is a general-purpose utility not directed at children specifically. Parents and guardians who allow a child to use the app can do so with the same assurance given above: no information about the child, or anyone else, is ever collected, stored, or transmitted.
The app may be downloaded and used anywhere Google Play or F-Droid is available. Because no personal data is ever collected, no personal data is transferred across borders in connection with the app's operation.
The app is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranty of any kind, express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law. The developer does not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or compatible with every device or Android version. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the developer's total liability arising out of or relating to your use of the app shall not exceed the amount you paid, if any, for the app or any optional in-app purchase. Nothing in this section limits any liability that cannot be limited or excluded under applicable law.
This policy and any dispute arising from or relating to it or to your use of the app are governed by the laws of the State of Israel, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles, and subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts of Tel Aviv-Jaffa, Israel, except where applicable local consumer-protection law grants you the right to bring a claim in your own jurisdiction instead.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this same address with a revised "Last updated" date. Material changes, such as the introduction of any new data collection or a paid feature, will be reflected here before or at the same time as the change takes effect in the app.
